R· It involves all the consciousnesses but also it doesn't involve all the 28 consciousnesses. It has some other element than just these. That seems to be the conflict between Hinayana and Mahayana. Mahayanists would claim that there would be another mind which is higher mind, higher intelligence, and Hinayana would say this is the only thing there is, that higher mind cannot be reached. That seems to be the conflict. You mean the Hinayanists say there are these eight types of consciousness and that's it?
